Clone Wars

This mighty foul up by Marvel has come to be called "the Clone Saga" and is one of the most hated chapters in all of the Spiderman history. This lame attempt to bring Gwen back was met with sales plummeting for Marvel and a strong dislike for all things touched by these people. Not everyone has gotten over it.

It got to the point where it became "Clone, Clone, whos got the clone!" it was so stupidly done.

The original tact was that Professor Warren cloned Gwen because of his love for her. When Gwen returned to Pete he almost freaked out. Test were done, the body in the grave was exhumed and fingerprints matched those of the double.

Things just went absolutely bonkers after this.

Warren cloned Peter Parker, created a Spiderman double (how the hell did he know Pete was Spidey? Was Gwen the only person on earth not knowing?)

In a battle of Spidey vs Spidey Gwen seemed to come to herself and attacked Warren because what she was seeing was totally against her sense of morals. Warren couldn't deal with it, tried to make up for his idiotcy and died.

The Spiderman clone died. Or at least we hope it was the clone. Other insanities awaited. A new character was created, the "Scarlet Spider". Clones of this and that popped up everywhere. Fans left in droves.

But then came the key page to the entire clone saga.

She says "was she the real Gwen Stacy or am I?"

Bids Pete goodbye, and walks away.
