This is for all the lonely people
Thinking that life has passed them by
Don't give up until you drink from the silver cup
And ride that highway in the sky
This is for all the single people
Thinking that love has left them dry
Don't give up until you drink from the silver cup
You never know until you try
Well, I'm on my way
Yes, I'm back to stay
Well, I'm on my way back home (Hit it)
This is for all the lonely people
Thinking that life has passed them by
Don't give up until you drink from the silver cup
And never take you down or never give you up
You never know until you try
So, Gwen leaves New York, Peter, and all her
friends behind. Because of the clone saga she no longer belongs there, whether
she is the real Gwen or not. Where could she go? She did not know about the
children that the other Gwen had, so she had no reason to go to Europe.
She has to make a life for herself. She
decides to complete her degree and build a real life for herself, but she wants
to stay away from the superhero towns in the world. Superheros
and Villians have caused her more than enough grief.
The closest she decides to get to a town where superheros
might be is Dallas. No one would come looking for her there, not even Peter.
So she enrolls at S.M.U. and gets some
scholarship money because she's brainy. She changes her name to Guinifer (Gwen-nif-fer) Stewart, but goes by Ginny (Jenny). Life slows down
and returns to what can pass for normal. She begins to enjoy life again, with some
friends she meets on campus. Shes not known as a
party girl, and seems to have a strange sadness about her. She still knows how
to keep the lechers and dolts away, so she spends most of her time at SMU
studying or alone. She successfully resists the strong urge to write to Peter
or any of her friends "back home". She tells herself "those days
are done." She buries herself in her work and makes the dean's list.
Then for kicks and giggles she decides to try
out for a spot as a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader. Much to her delight and
surprise, she gets the slot.
Bolstered by this stunning success and the pick up it does to her self esteem and free time, she
really begins to get over New York and Peter. She goes overseas to entertain
the troops, participates on the sidelines in the football games, and generally
has a great time. Possibly one of the greatest times of her
life.
In due course she completes her degree, and
decides to get a real job. She sends out resumes to just about every place she
can think of, (none to New York) but the responses are not what she'd hoped
for. She continues as a cheerleader and works part time as an assistant at the
university. The salary keeps her comfortable, if not well off.
Then she gets a request for an interview in a
small school at an out of the way girls home in the desert of New Mexico. It's
not much, but Ginny figures what has she got to lose.
It might be educational. The school also offers housing for faculty. That
interests her too.
A short flight from Dallas Love Field to
Pace, New Mexico and then with a rental car she drives the 10 or so miles to
the girls home.
Guiding Light Home for Girls is a small
school, but has a lot going for it. For someone with Ginny's altruistic
attitude about life, this was just about perfect. Every girl in the school
comes from a troubled background or are orphans. She is given the interview by
the school superintendent, Sharon Taylor.
Much to her surprise, the reason Ginny was
picked was not because of her degree. They already had a science teacher, Mr.
Jim Bruce. No, what they needed was someone with musical talents, dancing
ability, and artistic capacity. Because Ginny had been a Dallas Cheerleader,
and had a degree, they decided to give her a call.
Initially feeling insulted, Ginny turns the
offer down. She angrily drives back to Pace to catch a flight home, but thinks
over what she has just seen and heard.
She hears the words of Sharon Taylor in her
head.
"These girls need someone to inspire and
direct them, someone they can look up to, someone to
show them how to be more than they think they can be. I think that person is
you, Miss Stewart."
She stops at the gate to the airport, and
taps her fingers on the steering wheel. What does she go back to? More work at
the college? More cheerleader stuff in Dallas? Maybe
this just might work out here. Here she is needed. Those kids need her. Lord
knows some of them have had it rougher than she had.
She puts the car in gear and turns around.
Mrs. Taylor is surprised but happy to see
her. Ginny says she'll take the job. They shake hands and Mrs. Taylor gives her
the necessary forms to fill out. Her new life at Guiding Light Home for Girls awaits, and with the promise of a full and rewarding future.
She is on her way. And for the first time in a decade, she feels happy and
secure.
She meets a guy named Faustus Mitternacht who is an honest to goodness Knight; horse,
armor, and all. They hit it off after a confusing start and begin to enjoy each
other's company. Faustus is the History teacher and in charge of security. She
one time sees him battle off some odd medieval looking armored strangers alone
and then another time rescue some girls and member of the faculty that were
lost in the desert.
Heres the story on how they met.

From "Spider-man
Blue", by Marvel Comics.
Dreaming of Gwen, like so many others.....
"..I had a dream about you...
We were riding in a car. I don't know whose car. I was driving.
It was a convertible -- Maybe like the one Harry used to own, I don't know
The wind was in your hair and,...
You were alive Gwen.
It just seemed so real, I could touch you...
Hear your laughter...
And the strangest part...
The hardest part...
Was that it was today, not in the past. You were still alive... Today.
Life can be... so unfair, Gwen."

In 2022 Marvel comics undid the Sins Past story with these few frames;
The character was free of the stain on her past. They undid the worst thing that they had done since they tossed her off the Brooklyn Bridge.
Marvel also came out with the Gwen Stacy Series that was later done as a giant comic. It tells about how she was before she met Peter Parker. You get to see her relationship with Harry Osborne, who her mother was, how much she loved her father, and a boyfriend we never knew existed. She is smart, courageous, and fearless to the point of recklessness.
I recommend it, though it has a sprinkling of “Political Correctness” here and there, it does not overtake the story. It’s a good story.
Yet, even then, I see, Gwen had ideas of what she wanted for her future.
Who is this "Captain" and where did he come from?
